Direct selling suits almost every category of products that are sold in traditional retail locations. It is also well suited for the sale of services such as telecoms, gas and electricity supplies.

Many people think of cosmetics, wellness products and jewellery as products that are often sold through direct selling, but add to that countless other product categories including kitchen products, interior decoration, clothing, gardening supplies, spa products, books, toys and games, food and beverage, rubber stamps and much more.

Type of companies involved in direct selling in Europe

Direct selling companies based in Europe range from small to very large firms with turnovers above 1 billion €. Some companies are based locally; others have grown to become international players in direct selling.

Direct selling is also used successfully by some multinational corporations such as L’Oréal, Yves Rocher or Citigroup as an additional sales channel.

All of Direct Selling Europe’s (DSE) member companies produce, control and distribute most of their products in Europe. They have subsidiaries in many European Union member states and many operate in a majority of EU countries.
