Germany: Direct Selling grows by almost 7% in 2015

In 2015, direct selling figures in Germany recorded their best performance, a total turnover of 16.3 billion EUR. This represents an increase of almost seven percet over the previous year, i.e. 15.3 billion EUR.

DSE replies to public consultation on the review of EU consumer and marketing legislation

As indicated in previous editions of the newsletter, the European Commission (EC) is reviewing the existing EU consumer and marketing legislation, the so-called Regulatory Fitness and Performance Check (REFIT).

DSE welcomes the important steps made by the EC to assess consumer law provisions and replied to the public consultation on this matter. DSE called for the status-quo to be maintained as regards the Directives on Consumer Rights (CRD), Unfair Contract Terms and Unfair Commercial Practices.

Just International AG inaugurates its new Headquarters in Switzerland

On 1 July 2016, Just International AG inaugurated its new worldwide Headquarters, after three years of construction works. The new building replaces the former site, built in 1964, and remains in Walzenhausen (Appenzell), Switzerland.  

The new premises were officially inaugurated by Marcel and Hansueli Jüstrich, owners of Just International AG, during an event with more than 500 guests, among which regional and local authorities, business representatives and direct sellers.

DSE elects new Chairman of the Board of Directors

Direct Selling Europe (DSE) announced at the annual General Assembly that took place in Zurich, Switzerland, the election of the new Chairman, Mr. Andres Ruff, CEO of WIV AG. The participants elected Mr. Ruff by unanimity, showing the cohesion and strength behind the decision. Mr. Ruff succeeds R. Glenn Drake, former Group President, Tupperware Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and Chairman of DSE during the period 2009-2015.

DSE welcomes the adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation

Today, the European Parliament adopted the General Data Protection Regulation*, after four years of intense discussions. The adoption, carried without amendments, comes after the inter-institutional agreement reached with the Council in December 2015 and its position adopted at first reading on 8 April 2016.

European Commission's platform for online dispute resolution

On 9 January 2016 the European Commission launched its new online dispute resolution (ODR) platform to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) bodies to allow ADR entities to fine-tune the notification and assessment procedures at national level. DSE took part in the building of this platform by participating in several exercises to adjust the platform before it became operational as well as providing constructive feedback.
