DSE Position Paper on Collective Redress

Friday, 16 December, 2011

On 16 December 2011, DSE published its position paper on Collective Redress. While DSE supports the broad aim of the European Institutions to ensure effective redress for consumers in the European Single Market, DSE prefers to wait to establish the functioning of existing instruments and make adjustments on national level, if necessary. For DSE, a European collective redress mechanism is not a solution to ensure consumer protection but, should this system be introduced nonetheless, appropriate safeguards are necessary to prevent misuse of the system and accelerate litigation.
